CRECEN is a community-based institution that has been responding to the needs and aspirations of Central American and other immigrants in Houston Texas since 1984. Advocating for the rights, economic and social justice for all immigrants, CRECEN is a family-driven force for community empowerment and immigrant leadership in the US and transnationally.
Operated and led primarily by Central American immigrants, CRECEN actively advocates for the voiceless, underserved, marginalized or otherwise left out of the prosperity and opportunity that supposedly the US offers to new comers. Through community participation, initiatives and services, we strive to better the lives of those who we serve.
CRECEN believes in a society where all people are treated with respect and dignity regardless of country of origin, ethnicity, race, faith, economic status, academic level or sexual orientation.
Rooted in our cultural values and traditions and inspired by the Central American historical struggles for justice and human rights, we strive to organize on behalf of a diverse community that thrives, prospers, educates and contributes fully to North American society, civically, culturally and economically.
